AAU ADULT DIVING

The Adult diving program will have three levels of competition: Open, Masters and Masters-B.

Open Level events are primarily for divers that want to compete at the elite level. There are no age restrictions, and Youth divers can also complete in open events if the meet sanction is authorized as combined Youth and Adult.

Masters Level events are primarily for divers that no longer want to compete in Open events. Elite divers are permitted to dive in masters events but are restricted to competing in their natural age group.

Masters-B Level events are for divers that are not ready to perform a full list of dives competitively but still want to experience the thrill of competing and socializing with other divers.

Rules for the Adult Diving Program:

A. The FINA rules will be used for Open AAU events with the following exception: In platform events, divers may perform dives from 5M, 10M, and/or any platform levels in between.

B. The FINA rules will also be used for Masters AAU competitions with the following exceptions:

  1. Men\'s and women\'s events will use the men\'s rules for number of dives to complete for each age group.
  2. The AAU Masters program will have an additional 21-24 year old age group, which will execute the same number of dives as the 25-29 age group does.
  3. There are no restrictions for dives performed from the 10 Meter Platform. For divers 50 and over, head first and/or dives with a DD of 2.0 or more can be performed from the 10 meter platform.

C. Masters-B (short list) events will have the following requirements:

  1. 19-49 year old Masters-B age groups perform any 5 dives for Springboard events and any 4 dives for platform events.
  2. 50-79 year old Masters-B age groups perform any 4 dives for Springboard events and any 4 dives for platform events.
  3. For Masters-B platform events, dives may be performed only from 5M, 7M, and/or any platform levels in between.
  4. There will be no forced migration from competing in Masters-B (Short list) events to Masters (Full list) events.

D. Invitational meets can still deviate from these rules as long as the exceptions are defined as part of the meet information documentation.
